What are seamonkeys?

The little seamonkeys are a form of brine shrimp and have a cool biological name: Artemia NYOS. The ones that you have bought live longer than normal brine shrimp because they are hybrids. They are also called seed shrimps.

How long do they live?

The seamonkeys bought from us will live up to two years. The sea-monkey packets has a special formula of crystals and live eggs which will hatch when added to water.

How big will seamonkeys become?

So big that they will swallow your house - only kidding! When they hatch you will think that there is nothing - simply because they are so tiny. They grow and become the size of a full stop (.) and then grow some more. Please don't throw the water out because you don't see them. The sea-monkeys grow up to 15 mm in length in around 4 weeks. Okay that means 1.5cm in one month. Take a ruler and then see how long 1.5cm is. Once they reach this length they will mate and make more sea-monkey babies - ain't it cool?

Can they harm anyone?

Only those that hate them.... but no they are innocent little sea pets.

Do the seamonkeys bought come from the sea?

No they live in saltwater lakes.

How can the sea-monkeys live in the packets for so long?

They are in suspended animation and just wait for the perfect conditions to be born. There are special crystals with the instant eggs to ensure that they can be kept for years.

How often do they need to eat?

Only a finger pinch of food once a week - that is the small part of the spoon that you get with the instant packs.

Why are they called seamonkeys (sea-monkeys) when they are a type of brine shrimp and don't come from the sea?
