If I lost the instructions what steps should I take?
Why
must I wait a day before adding the Instant live eggs to the water?
The water purifier must clean the water from harmful substances first.
It's
been about 5 days and I don't see any sea monkeys yet should I start again?
No, it can take up to a week for the little sea-monkey babies to hatch. They
are as small as the point of a needle at first so you may not see them at first.
What
is the stuff at the bottom of my sea-monkey tank?
Sorry to say, but those are the dead bodies of your sea-monkeys. It is a natural
part of the life cycle and if you see dark color shells at the bottom which
don't move around, you can take a tweezer and remove them from the tank.
My
Sea-Monkeys have black streaks, what does that mean?
Good - you can see the food in the sea-monkey digestive system.
Can
the sea-monkeys harm my other sea pets?
Not at all. Other sea pets can harm them and will most probably try to eat them.
I
don't have another tank, but want to seperate the sea-monkey babies from the
adults, what can I do?
Get a 300ml jar and clean it well. Make sure it is well rinsed and transfer
the sea-monkey babies. You should however use the water purifier first to ensure
there are no harmful bacteria in the water. Leave for 24 hours and add the babies
to their nursery.
My
sea-monkey has a thread-like tail -what is it?
Oops, it is only their poooh (excretion).
My
sea-monkey babies die before they become adults, what can the problem be?
The water can be contaminated or not have enough oxygen. Aerate -thus blow in
fresh oxygen into the tank once a day for 14 days or stir the water for 30 seconds
a day to give them some more oxygen. There can also be too many sea-monkeys
in the tank. Seperate the babies from the adults by transferring them to another
tank. If the water is very clouddy it means that you are overfeeding. Only feed
them once a week with the small tip of the spoon. Only feed them with the large
tip if you have a huge colony in a larger tank.
Can
I put my sea monkeys with my fishes?
No, they will become fish food.
Can
I feed the sea-monkey pets fish food?
No, they will die.
Can
sea-monkeys be different colors?
Yes, they love to change colors. The colors range from white up to a deep dark
red.
I
have sea-monkeys that are attached to each other and stay at one place, what
does it mean?
It means you have sea-monkey pets busy with mating. Expect small babies soon.
I
have sea monkeys with whiskers under their chins and which are attached - what
does it mean?
It means you have two male sea-monkey pets caught in a fight. The males enjoy
a good fight and you should not interupt.
Do
the females also fight?
No they are more loving.
What
should I do if the water level becomes too low?
Just add more water (distilled or bottled water).
Should
I add water purifier again?
No you only do it once at the start of a new tank.
Is
tap water ok to use?
No only bottled or distilled water should be used.
What
does the water purifier do?
It rids the water of harmful bacteria.
Should
I add salt to the water?
No please don't!
The
water in the sea-monkey tank is cloudy, what is the problem?
You are overfeeding them. Stop feeding them for a while and when the water becomes
clear again you can feed them.
Can
I put my sea-monkey tank in the sun?
Yes, sea-monkey pets love the sun, but remember not to put them in direct sunlight
as the tank will become too hot.
What
is the ideal temperature for my sea-monkey tank?
Around 22 degrees celcius.
Can
I add food coloring to the water?
Not unless you want them to die.
How often should I change the water?
Don't change the water.
How
long does a packet of sea-monkey growth food last?
Generally up to a year.
Can
I feed them other food?
No this will cause them to die.
Is
it ok if the growth food is green?
Yes
Can
I eat the Growth Food?
Not really, besides it tastes horrible, but you won't die.
How does the reproduction work?
The male and femal mate, he fertilizes the eggs and sometimes the female fertilizes
her own eggs if there isn't a suitable male.
How will I know if a my sea-monkey female is pregnant?
She carries the eggs in an egg sack below the stomach.
Will
the eggs survive if the female dies before the eggs are released?
It sometimes will. The female often releases the eggs even after death.
How
many sea-monkey babies are born at once from one female?
Up to 20 babies.
How
long does it take after mating for the babies to be born?
If you find the exact time, please telll us.
How
long does it take for mating to complete?
It can take a few weeks so rather give them a bit of privacy :)
It
looks like they are hurt when mating, is it so?
No, but it can look pretty ruff.
How
many sea-monkeys can stay in my zoo tank?
Around 100, but then you have to transfer the rest to another tank otherwise
they will die from an oxygen shortage.
Why
are the baby sea-monkeys swimming to the tank surface?
They do that because they need oxygen. It is natural.
How
can I add more oxygen to the tank to help them?
Stir the water once or twice a day (slowly). Use the sea-monkey bubble pump
to blow in some air or a small fish pump. You can also use a traw, but you may
introduce bacteria in this way. Throw the water from one tank to another and
back (gently) once a week.
The stuff at the bottom are sea-monky eggs, algae and shells of dead sea-monkeys.
You can clean the tank with the Million Bubble Air Pump by sucking up some of
the stuff. Fill the tank up with distilled or bottled water afterwards.
Must
I remove the dead egg shells?
If you want to, but is pretty much part of their ecosystem.
What
if there is green algae in my sea pet tank?
Leave it there they will it, but if you want to clean it use the Million Buble
Air Pump that you can buy from us.
