Napoleon
was one of the most famous and important military
leaders in the French history. He was no ordinary
guy. A bit on the short side, and with a rather short
temper, he still managed to lead his army to many
victories in his quest to build the French empire.
The
famous left-hander was born on 15 August 1769 in Corsica
and died on 5 May 1821 in exile on the island of St
Elba. The story goes that he died of stomach cancer,
which was a rather weird death for someone who managed
to survive numerous bloody battles. It is also one
of the many rumors about lefhanders - that they are
more prone to illnesses related to the stomach - but
it is only a rumor, especially since there is evidence
that he most probably died of arsenic poison - something
that would surely give anyone stomach pains.
There are numerous books and websites about Napoleon
Bonaparte and his military record. He was a strong
leader who attempted to extend the French Empire,
but alas! could not succeed in conquering the whole
of Europe.
His
will power, however, was noteworthy. It was his visionary
outlook that gave his men courage.

Personal
Traits
Napoleon
Bonaparte was an extraordinary leader. He was
only 1.68 meters tall or should I say, short? He had
the nickname of being the short corporal not only
because of his length, but because he wasn't ashamed
of using harsh language. Although short, he was very
charismatic and loved by his men. When he wasn't busy
with strategizing and battles, he loved to take long
baths and to play cards. Apparently he was also a
bit of cheater when it came to card playing.
He
was an informal person, easy to approach, but could
get serious when it counted. Characteristic of his
life and personality were the quiet and dreamy periods
which followed days of excessive activity. This is
often also a trait of the lives of other lefthanders
who seem occupied with many things at once followed
by periods of dreaming and lazing away the days before
starting on several projects again.
What
made Napoleon Bonaparte such a good leader?
Napoleon
Bonaparte understood people and mastered the art of
motivating others. He did not only drive himself,
but in the process, drove his men to do far more than
they believed they were capable of. He had a vision
and was idealistic about life. This is also a characteristic
many lefthanders share.
